Recruiters Comments: Our multinational client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for an initial 6-month contract role within the financial services sector in the midwest. Daily rate of €500-€520 per day on offer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex Cloud initiatives that span one or multiple strategic priorities / functional areas.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use best practice governance methodology to manage and deliver change
  • Leadership for project teams by building & motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Full project lifecycle ownership across assigned projects / programs
  • Provide clear and concise status reporting regarding project planning, project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues, budgets communicating appropriately across different levels in the organization
  • Ensure project KPI’s are reported in a timely manner to the right audiences
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Promote customer/stakeholder involvement throughout the project to ensure success
  • Promote effective lessons learned techniques and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results across the project and wider IT teams
  • Act as a role model in promoting good working relationships
  • Make things happen. Use knowledge, skills and experience to recognise and articulate problems and bring the right people together to solve & close problems with the appropriate urgency
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management disciplines to support the client ambition at local level contributing to the overall global transformation
  • Support Programme & Portfolio Leader / Programme Manager with ongoing governance requirements
  • Utilising agile skills to coach other members of the team
  • Other duties as directed

Role:

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Min 5 years proven experience managing complex IT projects to completion in the Financial Services industry
  • Proven experience delivering projects across different streams (cross functional / international teams) including business change and application development projects, on time and on budget meeting business needs
  • Experience leading, motivating and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance
  • Strong project financial management skills
  • Experience reporting on project metrics / KPI’s and analysing trends/taking action where required
  • Self-motivated, quick and assertive
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for delivery of project & program outcomes
  • Strong project management skills: use of structured, formal methods
  • Strong project management skills: status reporting, project planning, project milestones, dependencies, risks and issues, budgets and communication
  • Broad understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Ability to manage troubled teams/projects and bring them to success
  • Ability to drive decisions with key stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Experience negotiating vendor contracts
  • Flexible & proactive with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience in Agile / Scaled Agile with an ability to extend that knowledge to IT’s delivery team

Education, Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Formal Project Management qualification (e.g. PMI)
