Recruiters Comments: Our client, a multinational in the Financial Services industry is currently looking for a Senior IT Project Manager to join their team for a contract in Shannon. The Senior IT PM will be responsible for leading and managing projects in the IT Security programme including ISO 27001, DLP, MTSB, CSA, from inception (or current stage) to delivery and will report to the IT Programme Manager (Infrastructure/Security)

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as senior project manager of a number of projects at any time.
  • End to end responsibility of project delivery lifecycle
  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple strategic priorities / functional areas
  • Use best practice PMO methodology to manage and deliver to the business
  • Leadership for project team(s) by building & motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Full project lifecycle ownership (from initiation to implementation & closure) across assigned projects / programs
  • Ensure overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Provide clear and concise status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating appropriately across different levels in the organization
  • Ensure project KPI’s are reporting in a timely manner to the right audiences
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Promote customer involvement throughout the project to ensure success
  • Promote effective lessons learned techniques and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results across the project and wider IT teams
  • Act as a role model in promoting good working relationships across the project team & stakeholders/sponsor
  • Make things happen. Use knowledge, skills and experience to recognise and articulate problems and bring the right people together to solve & close problems with the appropriate urgency
  • Manage to project priorities ensuring that the most important priorities are being addressed
  • Effective project resource management and utilisation
  • Other duties as directed

 

Role:

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Technical/ Functional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Min 5 years proven experience managing complex IT projects to completion
  • Proven experience delivering projects across different streams (cross functional / international teams) including security projects, on time and on budget meeting business needs
  • Knowledge of Security Controls and Risk Remediation
  • Knowledge of ISO27001 standard
  • Ability to manage resource conflicts and plan accordingly to avoid failure of delivery
  • Experience leading, motivating and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance
  • Strong project financial management skills
  • Experience reporting on project metrics / KPI’s and analysing trends/taking action where required
  • Self-motivated, quick and assertive
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for delivery of project & program outcomes
  • Broad understanding of systems architecture and development lifecycles
  • Strong project management skills: use of structured, formal methods
  • Ability to manage projects across Applications/Technical Service streams
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Ability to manage troubled teams/projects and bring them to success
  • Ability to drive decisions with key stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Experience negotiating vendor contracts
  • Flexible & proactive with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to influence business & IT stakeholders at all levels to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure project & program vision and direction is clearly communicated & followed through.
  • Ensure effective decision making, negotiation & team building skills
  • Ability to work closely with Business & IT colleagues (at all levels) to ensure projects and programs are delivered as required
  • Strategic in approach: understands and addresses inter-dependencies and real issues with a tactical implementation approach
  • Experience in Agile / Scaled Agile with an ability to extend that knowledge to IT’s delivery team

Desired:

  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Formal Project Management qualification (e.g. PMI)
  • Experience in ISO 27001 standard and achieving compliance with standard (certification)
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Language skills – spoken & written French beneficial
